- Find the flashlights and put a thermometer in the fridge and one in the freezer.

A modern furnace stops because its control board, hot surface igniter, draft inducer and blower all run on house current. The gas is fine. The electronics are not. Running blower and controls is typically a few hundred watts continuous, with a short surge when the motor starts, which is why a modest battery can carry a furnace far longer than it can carry a well pump.
